To All,
As our inaugural season just passed the midway point, it’s time to start thinking of and planning for the upcoming summer seasons. As previously discussed, we will be hosting two divisions over the summer; Open and Women’s. Again, anyone is welcome in the Open division including ladies. If you are a female player looking to play in both divisions we can make it happen, I’ll just need a “heads up” for scheduling purposes.
As is common with most seasons (especially inaugural seasons), I’m sure there has been a feeling out process between players and teams. Some teams will shuffle their rosters while others divide and reform as entirely new teams. Whatever the case, I need you all to start talking and planning for the summer divisions. I need an initial “show of hands” for intent to play by Friday, May 20th. If you are in touch with other teams / players not currently playing with us that want to play, please spread the word. This “show of hands” is very important from a planning and scheduling standpoint for the summer season. If any of you have questions please don’t hesitate to contact me.
Dates:
1) May 20th (Friday): Intent to Play due. Send me an e-mail with team name, captain name and contact info, division (Open or Women’s), and rough roster (names) if available.
2) June 1st (Wednesday): New Player Registration Deadline. This is the deadline to have new players (no current player pass) added to rosters prior to the first summer matches. As long as they’re registered prior to this date, they will be available to play your first match. Players registering after this date will receive their passes and become available to play subject to the time it takes for processing.
3) June 6th/8th (Monday/Wednesday): First scheduled summer matches (tentative). Depending on number of teams and divisions we will start matches on one or both of these days. *****ATTENTION: WE WILL START THE SEASON ON SCHEDULE. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. THERE WILL BE NO LATE ADDITIONS OF TEAMS.*****
4) June 18th (Saturday): 2nd Annual David Heatherly Memorial 4v4 Soccer Tournament. Open to age groups U8-Adult men and women. For more info visit our website (www.ocsa-nc.com) and click on “Tournaments”
Thank you ALL for making OUR inaugural season such a great success! If you have feedback for what you liked / didn’t like / what you’d like to see in the future, please send it my way. We’ve come a long way in a short time. We started this thing in February with a database of about (30) players and (3) teams. We now stand at (190) registered players and (12) teams. This represents the huge success that ALL of YOU have created through word of mouth and love of the game. In spite of this success, WE cannot afford to settle on our laurels. WE have plenty of room to grow and the talent is out there. Please spread the word. FYI: Graduating HS seniors are eligible to play in the summer divisions as long as they are no longer rostered players with an NCYSA youth team. Thanks for all YOU do to support OUR league!
