SPRING 2011 NEWSLETTER #2

April 20, 2011

OCSA Soccer Family,

The original intent for this letter seems insignificant in light of this past weekend’s tornados. The damage and devastation across our State is unbelievable. Driving down Piney Green Rd and seeing the destruction up close and personal is emotional. To think of the families and all they have lost. It made me proud to be from this area when I saw all the volunteers and neighbors helping out any way they could. I’m sure the same thing is going on at Tarawa Terrace. I would like our soccer community to know they can help with the clean up or by donating money and non-perishables. OCSA will be collecting money all this week and next to donate to the Salvation Army. The Salvation Army and local churches are also accepting donations. Our club has already donated concession stand items to help hydrate and feed victims and volunteers. As we continually see news stories about disasters around the world, let’s not forget our friends and neighbors in our own backyard.

Tryout information has been updated on the website (www.ocsa-nc.com). We will continue to update the website with a registration link, individual team tryout times, and coaching assignments as they become available. If you or others have questions about tryouts please do not hesitate to contact the office. Remember our members are our biggest advertisers. We need you supporting the club through out tryout season. Let people know why you choose OCSA. Let them know the positive direction we are headed and why it’s important to have a unified soccer community. We will need everyone to pre-register for tryouts before the week of May 22-28. With a successful spring coming to a close we are looking forward to an even better 2011/2012.

Our fitness trail is open!! Thanks to our sponsor www.onslowfitness.com we have mapped out a mile long running/walking trail around the Tabernacle Complex. You can find the exact route on the website under the facilities link. So the next time you’re at the complex get out and enjoy the weather. Don’t sit in the car when the Crew warms up for a game or trains for their next match. Get out and be active.

You may have noticed some dirt being moved behind the concession stand. Our goal and dream of restrooms, office space and training area are one step closer to a reality. The septic system is in and tradesmen are planning and preparing to renovate phase one of the field house remodel. The goal is to have the bathrooms complete over the summer. It will take a lot of planning and volunteer work but we are excited to get this project underway. If you would like to help, please contact Dale Altman or Mike Tuton.

As always I am lucky to call the Crystal Coast my home and work with such a great organization. We should all consider ourselves blessed to play a role in the lives and development of our young people. Remember if you can let’s help out the folks in our area who were devastated by the storms.

See ya on the fields,

Cam Ormsby
Director of Coaching OCSA
